All beef, pork, chicken, lamb and turkey (except kosher turkey) in our Meat department is Animal Welfare Certified, so you can feel good about what you're buying (and eating). We use a traceable audit system that tracks animals on every step of the journey — from their birth on the farm or ranch to our stores. If an animal must receive antibiotic treatment, the meat cannot be sold in our Meat department. We don't allow the use of added hormones in our Meat department, whether that's through feed, injections or any other method. That includes no feather meal or rendered fat. Our Meat Standards Aren't Standard.

Farm-to-store traceability is a key differentiator for our Meat department. We can trace the journey of every animal from birth to our stores, providing full transparency. This traceability also means we have complete control over the raising and handling of the animals, ensuring the highest standards are met.

No antibiotics, ever, is another defining characteristic of our Meat department. If an animal requires antibiotic treatment for any reason, that animal's meat will not be sold in our stores. We believe that responsible animal husbandry should not rely on routine antibiotic use.

Similarly, we have a strict policy of no added growth hormones in our meat products. This applies to any method of hormone administration, whether through feed, injections, or other means. Our customers can be confident that the meat they purchase has been raised naturally, without artificial growth stimulants.

Additionally, we prohibit the inclusion of any animal by-products in the feed given to the animals in our Meat department. This means no feather meal, rendered fat, or other animal-derived ingredients are used. We believe in providing our customers with meat from animals raised on a vegetarian diet.
